King's Women's Volleyball Falls in Home, Freedom Conference Opener to DeSales

KING'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS HOME OPENER TO DESALES

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team opened its Freedom Conference schedule with a 3-0 loss to DeSales University in the Lady Monarchs' 2012 home debut. The game also marked the first athletic contest played in the newly refurbished Scandlon Gymnasium.

DeSales, which won by scores of  25-12, 25-16, 25-9, improved to 4-6 overall while King's slipped to 2-8.

Freshman Alexa Nelson led King's offensively with five kills and two digs while senior Molly Dahl added four kills and one block. Sophomore Kaleigh Brady added three kills and 10 digs while freshman Elen O'Donnell contributed three kills and three digs. Sophomore setter Mary Loughran posted 13 assists and six digs while senior Jillian Foster picked up 16 digs.

King's returns to action Friday with a 7:00 p.m. Home matchup with Gwynedd-Mercy College.
