KING'S FIELD HOCKEY POSTS 4-1 WIN OVER SCRANTON

WILKES-BARRE -- Calli Berryman scored twice and Jackie Sikora dished out two assists to power the King's College field hockey team to a 4-1 victory over the host University of Scranton Thursday night at Fitzpatrick Field.

With the win, King's improved to 3-2 while the Lady Royals slipped to 2-2.


King's took a 1-0 lead at 29:18 of the first half when Meghan Wernimont scored off an assist from Sikora. The Lady Monarchs took a 2-0 lead at the half when Calli Berryman struck net off another Sikora assist.

In the second stanza, the King's lead swelled to 3-0 on an unassisted goal from Kim 
Howanitz at the 43:23 mark. Scranton trimmed to the lead to 3-1 on a Jessica Pankey goal at 51:35.

The Lady Monarchs countered when Beryman
 scored her second goal of the match to push the score to 4-1 at 60:40.

Scranton outshot King's 30-24 and held a 13-10 advantage in penalty corners. King's goalie Megan Withrow
was outstanding in the game, making 18 saves.

King's will next travel to Selinsgrove on Saturday to face Susquehanna University in a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
