KING'S MEN'S SOCCER BLANKS BAPTIST BIBLE, 6-0

WILKES-BARRE -- Daniel Hernandez had one goal and one assist and six different players registered goals as the King's College men's soccer team posted a 6-0 victory over visiting Baptist Bible College Thursday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 2-2-1 while Baptist Bible slipped to 1-3.


The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead 12:59 into the game when Hernandez intercepted a Baptist Bible goal kick and drilled a shot from 20 yards out inside the right post. The Monarch lead grew to 2-0 at 2:32 when Brandon Raynor scored on a header following a crossing pass from the right wing.

King's led grew to 3-0 at the half when Anthony Celia scored unassisted at 32:55.

In the second half it was all King's as Brian Alifano converted a crossing pass from Buchanan into a 4-0 Monarch lead at 66:15. King's wasted little time in striking again when Eric Stanfield scored off another Buchanan cross at the 69:28 mark to push the score to 5-0.

The Monarchs onslaught continued just 1:55 later when Nick Armenti struck net on a blast from 20 yards out to up the lead to 6-0 with 19:27 remaining.

The Monarchs outshot the Defenders 22-1 and led 6-1 in corner kicks. Buchanan finished with two assists while King's goalie Mark Labbadia picked up the shutout win for the Monarchs.

King's returns to the field Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. home matchup against Juniata College at McCarthy Stadium
