Box Score King's Men's Soccer Downs Juniata 4-1
Wilkes-Barre, Pa.--
Daniel Hernandez scored two goals and added an assist as the King's College men's soccer team defeated visiting Juniata 4-1 Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
The Monarchs got on the board early on a goal by
Chris Nygren at 8:41 on a cross from Hernandez. Hernandez buried a turning shot at 10:03 to put the Monarchs up 2-0.
The Eagles had an opportunity to cut the lead before half when Monarch goalkeeper
Mark Labbadia came out to challenge and had the ball squirt away. Dane Azeles threw the ball toward the net, but
Niall Croke came across the goal mouth and headed the ball out of danger. Labbadia left the game with an apparent injury.
King's picked up where it left off scoring just 15 seconds into the second half on Hernandez's second goal. Juniata cut the lead to 3-1 on a tally from Nick Stone-Weiss on a shot to the lower left corner.
Brian Alifano tacked on an insurance tally in the 90th minute when the ball pinballed off of an opposing player and he one-timed in to the upper right corner.
Brandon Raynor replaced Labbadia and allowed one goal and didn't have to make a save. Ezra Cassel made five saves for Juniata.
The Monarchs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Penn State-Berks for a 4:00 p.m. start.
