KING'S FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO 14TH RANKED ELIZABETHTOWN, 2-0
ELIZABETHTOWN -- Elizabethtown College, ranked 14th national by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, score once in each half en route to a 2-0 visiting King's College Wednesday in Elizabethtown.
With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 6-1 on the year while King's slipped to 4-3.
Elizabethtown broke open a scoreless game at the 20:13 mark when Jackie Hines scored off a pass from Nadine Yungginger inside the right post. The Blue Jays would push across the final goal of the game at 52:40 off a penalty corner when Kendra Hudson converted a pas from Emily Mason inside the left post.
Elizabethtown outshot King's 18-4 on the day and owned a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners. King's goalie Megan Withrow made 10 saves while Blue Jay keeper posted two stops. The Lady Monarchs also played the game without leading scorer Calli Berryman who was unable to travel due to family reasons.
King's returns to action Saturday when the Lady Monarchs travel to Purchase, NY to face Manhattanville College at 12:00 noon in a game rescheduled from its original 1:00 p.m. start time.
