MONAGHAN'S FIVE POINTS LEADS KING'S FIELD HOCKEY PAST CEDAR CREST

ALLENTOWN -- Alyssa Monaghan scored twice and added an assist to lead the King's College field hockey team to a 6-0 road victory over host Cedar Crest College Thursday in Allentown.

With the win, King's improved to 7-3 overall while Cedar Crest slipped to 3-5.

Jackie Sikora
opened the scoring for the Lady Monarchs 6:44 into the game with an unassisted tally. The score became 2-0 at 25:24 when Kim Howanitz added an unassisted goal of her own.

In the second half King's struck quickly when Abby McManus struck net off an assist by Monaghan just 0:44 into the final period. Monaghan then scored on a pass from
Howanitz at 43:29, then added an unassisted goal at 49:33 to up the King's advantage to 5-0.

The Lady Monarchs added a final goal at 53:42 when Calli
Berryman scored unassisted, netting her team-high 11th goal of the season.

King's outshot Cedar Crest 23-2 and held a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners. In goal, King's starter Megan Withrow
picked up the victory, playing 49 minutes without making a save. Brittany Naylor played the final 20 minutes and made one save.

King's returns to the field Saturday when the Lady Monarchs host three-time defending Freedom Conference champion Eastern University at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler
Athletic Complex.
