KING'S WOMEN FALL TO DESALES FOLLOWING ROUGH SECOND HALF, 63-48 AS RADER MOVES TO WITHIN SIX POINTS OF 1,000

CENTER VALLEY -- The host DeSales University women's basketball team overcame a four-point halftime deficit by outscoring King's College 43-24 over the final 20 minutes of play as the Bulldogs posted a 63-48 Freedom Conference victory Saturday in Center Valley.

With the loss, King's fell to 14-5 overall and 6-2 in Freedom Conference games while seeing its nine-game win streak come to an end. DeSales, meanwhile, moved to within one game of second-place King's in the league standings after improving to 13-6 and 5-3.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, shooting a combined 25.7 (17-66) percent in the opening stanza. DeSales, however, improved in the second half, connecting on 50.0 (20-40) percent of its attempts while King's made just 20.0 (7-35) percent during the final frame.


Katlin Michaels led King's with 12 points, eight rebounds, and six assists while Celia Rader tallied 12 points, five rebounds, and six steals. Rader moved to within six points of reaching the 1,000-point plateau for her career. Lindsay Atchison had five points and 10 rebounds while Molly Dahl chipped in with five points, two rebounds, and two assists.

DeSales was paced by Sondrine Glovas with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Alexiah Grant followed with 14 points and nine boards. Colleen Gavin chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

King's returns home Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs host Eastern University at 6:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gym.
