KING'S WRESTLERS SWEEP TWO AT PA/NY DUALS

ROCHESTER, NY -- The King's College wrestling swept both matches to finish 2-0 at the Pennsylvania. New York Duals Saturday at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY.

In its first match the Monarchs rallied past host R.I.T.
by a 22-21 count. In its second meet, King's downed Oswego State 25-13.

In the opening match, the Monarchs won a back-and-forth affair with R.I.T. King's Jamie Scarantino and Aaron Perez (2-4) both won decisions at 125 and 133 respectively to give the Monarchs a 6-0 advantage. But the Tigers won the next three bouts, picking up two pins in the process to build a 15-6 lead.

King's countered at 165 when Tommy Desir
gained a 18-7 major decision while Ahmed Burton earned a 9-5 decision to trim the lead to 15-13. The Monarchs then recaptured the lead at 184 when Shane Stark registered a first-period pin to give King's a 19-15 advantage. The lead was short-lived, however, when the Tigers countered with a pin of their own to take a 21-19 lead heading into the final match at heavyweight. There, King's senior Peter Dwyer (7-2) won the match with a clutch 5-2 decision.

Against Oswego, Scarantino
(8-8) gave the Monarchs a 5-0 lead with a 17-0 technical fall at 125. After Oswego secure a pin at 133 to go ahead 6-5, the Monarchs won the next two matches. At 141, DeMarquis Holley (10-5) posted a 10-5 decision before Chris Mazzocchi (10-5) won a 9-2 decision for a 11-6 King's lead.

Oswego captured a major decision at 157 to close to within 11-10 but King's won the next four matches to clinch the victory. Desir
(13-4) was a 7-3 decision at 165 before Burton (2-0) picked a 4-2 triumph at 174 to push the score to 17-10. Stark secured a 19-6 major decision at 184 before Cemah Tudae Torboh (1-2) followed with his own major decision, a 14-5 verdict, at 197 to put the Monarchs on top 25-10.

King's will finally make its home debut Friday when the Monarchs host nationally-ranked Delaware Valley College in a 6:00 p.m. matchup in Scandlon Gymnasium.
