King's Men's Soccer Notches 1-0 Win Over Manhattanville
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College men's soccer team earn a 1-0 win over Manhattanville on a rain-drenched McCarthy Stadium Saturday night.
After the teams played 84 scoreless minutes,
Daniel Hernandez took a ball from just outside the box, dribbled to the middle of the field and scored on a low shot that glanced off the keeper and trickled inside the right post with just 5:37 to play in the game.
The Monarch defense held off a late Manhattaville surge to hold on for win. King's held an 11-4 edge in shots and a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Mark Labbadia picked up the win in net making one save and earning his fourth shutout of the season. Steve Singson took the loss for the Valiants making four saves.
With the win the Monarchs improved to 8-3-3 overall and 3-1 in Freedom Conference play. They return to action on Wednesday when they travel to crosstown rival Wilkes for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
