KING'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO WILKES-, 3-1

WILKES-BARRE — The visiting Wilkes University women's volleyball team broke open a 1-1 tie in sets by capturing the next two as the Lady Colonels posted a 3-1 victory over cross-town rival King's College in a Freedom Conference matchup Tuesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

Wilkes, which won by scores of 25-21, 17-25, 25-7,25-17, improved to 16-9 overall and 5-1 in Freedom Conference play while KIng's slipped to 11-9 and 1-5 in league competition.

Jessica Carr paced King's offensively with eight kills and two blocks while Mary Loughran added three kills 20 assists, four aces and six digs. Emily Heimbecker tallied four kills, two assists, and four digs while Alexa Nelson followed with four kills and one dig. Alyssa Powell contributed three kills, two assists, and nine digs while Sarah Busse posted five aces and six digs. Aubrey Gryskiewicz haas seven digs while Elen O'Donnell chipped in with six digs.

For Wilkes, Megan Powers dished out 44 assists and two digs whileKelsey Yacko and Casey Bohan followed with 13 kills apiece. Marissa Mallory tallied 26 assists while Paige Trusty totaled eight kills, and three aces. Ally Paskas had seven kills and eight digs while Alisha Rupp chipped in with six kills.

King's returns to action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Match at Keystone College before returning home Friday to host SUNY-Maritime in a 6:00 p.m. Contest on Senior Night.
