King's Field Hockey Drops Freedom Conference Tilt to Delaware Valley
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College field hockey team fell 6-2 to visiting Delaware Valley Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference play at McCarthy Stadium.
The Aggies jumped out to a early with an unassisted tally by Taylor Prichett at the 14:05 mark. Kelsey Zook extended the lead just over three minutes later. Jessica Summers and Pritchett pushed the Delaware Valley lead to 4-0 with goals at 22:02 and 28:29.
King's got on the board before the half when
Abby McManus tucked an
Alyssa Monaghan pass inside the left post to cut the halftime lead to 4-1.
Summers scored her second goal of the game two minutes into the second frame to push the Delaware Valley lead to 5-1. The Lady Monarchs were able to cut the lead to 5-2 on a goal by Monaghan from
Kristi Katra, but Elana Keller iced the game with an unassisted goal at 60:58.
The Aggies posted a 19-11 advantage in shots and held a 13-9 edge in penalty corners.
Megan Withrow made seven saves and allowed five goals taking the loss in net.
Paige Tedik made a pair of saves for the Lady Monarchs in relief. Sandra Edwards made six stops to score the win.
The Lady Monarchs return to action with a non-conference matchup with Drew on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
