KING'S MEN'S SOCCER DROPS FREEDOM OPENER AT FDU
MADISON, NJ — The visiting King's College men's soccer team fell behind 1-0 at the half and never recovered as the Monarchs dropped a 3-2 decision to host FDU-Florham in the team's Freedom Conference opener Saturday in Madison, NJ.
With the loss, King's slipped to 4-3-3 while the Devils improved to 7-3-1.
The Devils took a 1-0 lead at the half when Ryan Hudres scored off an assist on a long kick from goalie Nick Mihalik at the 26:27 mark.
King's knotted the score at 1-1 when
Niall Croke struck net on a penalty kick at 18:40 of the second half. The Devils forged a 2-1 lead with 10:17 left in the contest when Hurdes scored again off a Igor Petrovic assist. The Devils pushed the score to 3-1 when Hurdes scored his third goal off another assist by Petrovic with just 2:50 to go.
King's managed a final goal with 0:39 left when
Eric Stanfield scored on a header off the foot of
Chris Nygren.

Mark Labbadia made six saves while Devil keeper Mihalik posted four stops. Both teams had 11 shots while FDU held a 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
King's will next host Penn State Berks Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
