BOEHM RBI IN 10TH INNING LEADS KING'S TO SERIES SWEEP OF DELAWARE VALLEY

DOYLESTOWN -- Eric Bohem drove in Rob Lemoncelli from second-base with a one-out single in the 10th inning as the King's College baseball team edged host Delaware Valley College 4-3 Sunday in Doylestown.

With the win, King's swept the three-game season series from Delaware Valley, improving to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in Freedom Conference. The Aggies, meanwhile, slipped to 7-8 and 1-4 in league competition.

Lemoncelli
led off the 10th inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Brian Mikus. After Chris Sweeney was intentionally walked, Boehm calmly stroked a single to centerfield to plate Lemoncelli with what proved to be the winning run.

From there, King's relief pitcher Joe Dorbad
retired the Aggies in order, striking out the first two batters in the process before inducing an infield ground out to end the game.

Boehm finished the game 2-for-5 with three RBI, including a two-run single in the fifth inning. Lemoncelli
was 2-for-4 with two runs while Brian Mikus finished 1-for-3 with a double and one run scored.

Sweeney, who entered the game batting .523, was 1-for-2 with an RBI and was walked intentionally three times in the game.

Monarch starting pitcher Pat Matthews was solid in the game, allowing three hits with six strikeouts in seven full innings. Dorbad
, the third Monarch hurler in the game, pitched one and two-thirds without allowing a base-runner and striking out two.

King's will host Penn State Scranton Monday at 4:00 p.m.

The Monarchs will then face a big Freedom Conference series against Misericordia
University Wednesday and Thursday. The teams will play single game at Misericordia Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. before King's hosts a doubleheader Thursday at 12:00 noon in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
