KING'S BASEBALL DROPS FIRST OF THREE-GAME SET TO MISERICORDIA
?DALLAS -- Host Misericordia University but a 6-0 lead after four innings en route to a 9-3 victory over visiting King's College in the first of a three-game Freedom Conference baseball set Wednesday in Dallas.
With the win, Misericordia improved to 13-4 and 4-1 in conference play while King's slipped to 9-3 and 3-2.
Misericordia banged out 13 hits in the game compared to nine for the Monarchs.
Tim Marchetti paced the Monarchs by going 2-for-3 with two runs and a double. Chris Sweeney and Brian Mikus were both 2-for-4 with an RBI while Sweeney added a double. Rob Lemoncelli and Jared Turner had one hit each for King's.
Monarch starter Joe Dorbad (2-2) took the pitching loss, allowing six earned runs in four innings. Shaw Heck finished for the Monarchs, going the final four innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits.
Kyle Lindsay led the Cougars with a 3-for-4 showing with three RBI while Ryan Cacchioliss and Joe Tagliarini were both 2-for-3.
Ryan Dorosh was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits in seven inning with six strikeouts.
The teams will conclude its season-series Thursday with a 12:00 noon doubleheader at King's.
