Chris Sweeney Hits for the Cycle as King's Knocks Off Emerson

Chris Sweeney hit for the cycle as the King's College baseball team belted out 18 hits and took advantage of six Emerson College errors on their way to a 16-5 victory on Monday at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach.
The Lions struck first picking up three runs in the top of the first on two hits and an error. King's answered with three of their own in the bottom half of the frame.
Rob Lemoncelli led off the inning with a hit by pitch and then stole second.
Brian Mikus plated Lemoncelli with a single to center and later scored on an
Eric Bohem fielders choice. Bohem scored the third run of the inning on a double by
Anthony Lizzi.
King's plated two more in the second after Lemoncelli led off the second straight inning with a hit by pitch and then scored on a triple by Sweeney off the center field fence. Bohem reached on an error on the first baseman knocking in Sweeney to push the lead to 5-2. The Monarchs also added a run in the third.
Emerson was able to cut the lead to 6-5 in the fifth with a pair of runs on two hits aided by a pair of errors.
The Monarchs added two runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh on a long solo home run by Sweeney. King's blew the game open in the bottom of the eighth with seven runs on seven hits and three errors on the Lions to set the final.
Sweeney paced the Monarch offense going 5-for-6 with four runs scored and four RBI. Mikus finished the game 3-fo-6 driving in three and scoring two runs.
Rich Acierno, Bohem and Lizzi each picked up two hits.
Kolby Woodfield was the only Lion with multiple hits going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Jesse Francese tallied two RBI.
Pat Matthews picked up the win on the bump for King's allowing five runs, three earned on seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Mike Kreiger picked up a four inning save allowing no runs with five punch outs and four free passes.
The Monarchs are now 3-1 on their spring trip and are back in action on Tuesday when they take on Mount Aloysius at 9:00 a.m. in their final game of the trip. Follow the game on LiveStats at:

King's will resume play back home on Sunday, March 10 at home with a 12 noon doubleheader against the University of Scranton.
