KING'S BASEBALL TO MAKE HOME DEBUT SUNDAY VERSUS SCRANTON

DIRECTIONS

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College baseball team will make its home debut Sunday when the Monarchs host a non-conference doubleheader against the University of Scranton beginning at 12 noon at Lipo Field the Betzler Athletic Complex.

King's enters the matchup with a 4-1 mark after returning from its Spring Break Trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.

The Monarchs boast a veteran squad with 16 senior players with hopes of a return trip to the Freedom Conference playoffs.

Senior outfielder Chris Sweeney tops the squad with a .542 (13-24) average with two doubles, two triples, one home run, six RBI, six runs scored, and a .917 slugging percentage. Senior designated hitter Richie Acierno follows at .412 (7-17) with two doubles, one triple, and six RBI while senior catcher Tim Marchetti stands at .385 (5-13) with one double and six RBI. Senior outfielder Brian Mikus is hitting .381 (8-21) with four RBI while senior shortstop Rob Lemoncelli conrtributes with a .368 (7-19) mark with two doubles and is 3-for-3 in steals.

Senior pitcher Brenton Eades is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA and five K's in 7.0 innings while fellow senior Joe Dorbad is also 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA with 4 K's in 7.0 innings. Sophomore Ryan Gimbi is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 6 K's in 7.0 innings.

Scranton entered the weekend with a 2-2 mark heading into Saturday's road game at York College. Entering the game with York, junior Eric Pizzico led the team with a .571 (8-14) average with one double, one home run, and five RBI while senior Mike Amaturo was batting .500 (2-for-4) with a RBI. Freshman Zach Dignam stood at .444 (4-9) with a double and two RBI while senior Tim LeCompte followed with a .429 (6-14) average with one double, one triple, and five RBI. Junior Michael Gaeta was batting .400 (6-15) with a double and two RBI

The pitchers were paced by senior Corey Gorman who was 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 6 K in 4.2 innings while fellow senior Bobby Della Polla was also 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA and 3 K in 4.0 innings.
