Lizzi Drives in Six to Power King's Baseball Past Penn State Schuylkill
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. --
Anthony Lizzi pounded out four hits and drove in six runs as the King's College baseball team belted out 23 hits on their way to a 23-6 non-conference win over Penn State Schuylkill Tuesday afternoon at Lipo Field.
The Monarchs jumped out early with three runs in the bottom of the first, but the Lions pulled even with a pair of runs in the second a single tally in the third.
King's pulled away with three runs in the third inning getting RBI from Lizzi,
Jared Turner and
Tim Marchetti. The Monarchs picked up four more runs in the fourth keyed by a two run double by
Chris Sweeney.
The big blow came in the sixth when King's hung a seven spot on the Lions. The inning was capped as Lizzi belted a bases-loaded double plating three runs.
In addition to Lizzi, Sweeney went 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, five RBI and four runs scored.
Rob Lemoncelli notched two hits and two walks, scoring four runs.
Eric Bohem and Marchetti each went 2-for-4.
Pat Matthews started the game and got a no decision working two innings allowing three runs all earned.
Brenton Eades scored the win going three innings giving up one run on four hits while striking out two.
The Monarchs improved to 12-5 on the season and are back in action on Friday when they host Eastern University in the first of a three-game weekend series. Friday's game is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Lipo Field.
