King's Men's Tennis Sweeps Eastern in Season Finale

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 victory over Eastern on Saturday in the final game of the regular season at Kirby Park.

The Monarchs scored an 8-1 win from the pair of Tony Bevevino and Jake Rohring 6-1, 6-3. Bobby Buttafofo and Chris DiMino earned an 8-3 victory at number two doubles while Ryan Hegarty and P.T. Romano were 8-0 winners at third flight doubles.

Bevevino defeated Dan Fowler at the top flight singles 6-1, 6-3. Rohring scored a 6-1, 6-3 win over Grant Williams at second flight singles. At number three singles Bobby Buttafogo earned a 6-3, 6-1 win against Tyler Schultz.

In the fourth flight singles DiMino tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win over Mylon Weaver. Andrew Panzitta picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win against Codie Todd. Hegarty finished off the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jason Spargo at the sixth flight singles.

The Monarchs are the second seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs and will host FDU-Florham next Tuesday at Kirby Park at 3:30 p.m.
