King's Men's Tennis Hosts FDU Today in Freedom Tourney Semi-Finals

KING'S MEN'S TENNIS HOSTING FDU-FLORHAM IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College men's tennis team will open Freedom Conference Tournament play when the second-seeded Monarchs host third-seeded FDU-Florham Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Kirby Park.

The Monarchs enter the matchup with a 10-8 record but have gone 5-1 in Freedom Conference matches.  FDU, meanwhile, stands at 6-10 and 4-2 in league competition. The teams played April 13 at Kirby Park with the Monarchs posting a 6-3 victory.

In singles, King's line-up will consist of Tony Bevevino (12-6) at number-one singles, followed by Jake Rohring (10-9), Bobby Buttafogo (9-4), Chis DiMino (15-6), Andrew Panzitta (7-10), and Ryan Hegarty (6-8).

In doubles, the Monarchs top two teams will consist of Bevevino and Rohring (11-6) as well as Buttafogo and DiMino (5-5). King's third doubles team will feature Hegarty playing with either Panzitta, Nick Conte, or P.T. Romano.

The FDU singles line-up is expected to include Mitch Gettis (4-10), Kevin Kotsak (8-5), A.J. Warden (4-6), Ryan Hurdes (6-3), Ryan Kearns (2-13), and Nasar Mannan (6-6).

Doubles teams will include AJ Warden/Ryan Kearns (4-5), Nasar Mannan/Mitch Gettis (5-5), and Kevin Kotsak/Ryan Hurdes (2-1).

Should King's win, the Monarchs will face the winer of the other semi-final match between top-seeded Wilkes and fourth-seeded Arcadia Saturday at a time to be announced at the site of the highest remaining team.

Championship:  Saturday, May 4, 2013
