KING'S MEN'S TENNIS DOWNS MISERICORDIA, 9-0
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's tennis team opened up a 3-0 lead after doubles then swept all six singles contests as the Monarchs posted a 9-0 victory over visiting Misericordia University Tuesday at Kirby Park.
King's, which did not drop a set in the match, improved to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in Freedom Conference play. Misericordia, meanwhile, slipped to 1-12 and 0-2 in the Freedom Conference.
Ryan Hegarty was a winner in both singles and doubles for the Monarchs. Tony Bevevino, Jake Rohring, Bobby Buttafogo, Chris DiMino, and Andrew Panzitta all posted singles wins for King's. Hegarty teamed with Nick Conte for a win at first doubles while Matt Grassi and P.T. Romano earned a victory at number-two doubles. In the final doubles bout Brandon Franklin and Jordan Furdock were also winners.
King's will next host Freedom Conference rival FDU-Florham Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Kirby Park.
