King's Volleyball Debuts at Home Tonight Marking Kachinko's Return to Scandlon Gym

KACHINKO TO LEAD KING'S VOLLEYBALL FOR FIRST TIME AT HOME SINCE 2009

WILKES-BARRE — For the first time since October 30, 2009, Bernie Kachinko will set foot on the hardwood floor of Scandon Gymnasium as head coach of the King's College women's volleyball team for the first time since 2009. Kachinko, who retired following the 2009 campaign will join the Lady Monarchs in their 2013 home debut tonight at 7:00 p.m. against Penn State Hazleton.

King's enters the matchup with a 4-0 mark following a tri-match sweep of Penn State Harrisburg and Penn College. Penn State Hazleton, meanwhile, will be making its season debut.

The Lady Monarchs are led by junior setter Mary Loughran, a former standout at Holy Redeemer High School. In three matches, Loughran has dished out 88 assists with 38 digs, eight kills, eight and eight service aces. Junior outside hitter Emily Heimbecker has a team-high 32 kills with 39 digs. Freshman hitter Jessica Carr follows with 30 kills while sophomore Alexa Nelson has 20 kills.

Sophomore Elen O'Donnell has contributed a team-best 44 digs with 16 kills while junior middle hitter Kelsie Kramer has tallied 18 kills. Sophomore Aubrey Gryskiewicz of Dallas chips in with seven kills, six services aces, and 14 digs.

The Lady Monarchs return home Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Matchup against William Paterson University.
