KING'S FIELD HOCKEY FALLS AT MUHLENBERG
ALLENTOWN -- The host Muhlenberg College field hockey team opened a 3-0 lead en route to posting a 5-1 victory over King's College in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night in Allentown.
With the win, Muhlenberg improved to 1-2 on the year while King's slipped to 2-2.
Samantha Swire and Meghan Gill scored one goal each to give the Mules a 2-0 half-time lead. After Christine Germaske scored to make it a 3-0 game King's got on the board when Kim Howanitz tipped in a feed from Alyssa Monaghan to cut the score to 3-1 with 21:00 remaining.
But King's would draw no closer as Bridget McNally scored twice over the final 18 minutes to seal the victory.
Muhlenberg outshot King's 14-12 while the Lady Monarchs owned a 6-5 edge in penalty corners. Megan Withrow had four saves for King's while Muhlenberg keeper Sierra Lenker also made four stops.
King's makes its home debut Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. matchup against Susquehanna University at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
