KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS FIRST GAME OF SEASON TO ALVERNIA

READING -- Bri McGrath netted a hat trick, scoring all three goals to power the host Alvernia University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over King's College in a non-conference contest Wednesday night in Reading.

With the win, Alvernia improved to 4-1 while King's dropped its first game of the season in slipping to 3-1.

McGrath scored the first goal of the game unassisted at the 23:01 mark to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead at the break. McGrath then scored her second goal off an assist by Laura Mauroschad at 53:28

 McGrath added her third goal on a breakaway with 8:38 left in the contest.

Alvernia owned a 12-5 advantage in shots.  King's goalie Jessica Natale made seven saves while Crusader keeper Colleen Maher made three stops.

The Lady Monarchs return to the pitch Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. matchup at Juniata College in Huntingdon.
