KING'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS FIRST MATCH TO WPU
WILKES-BARRE —In a battle of unbeaten squads, visiting William Paterson University handed King's College its first defeat of the season in a non-conference women's volleyball matchup Thursday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.
The Pioneers won 3-0 by scores of 27-25, 25-13, 25-21 to improve to 5-0 on the year. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 5-1.
King's had two set points in the first game but were unable to capitalize. After William Paterson easily won game two, the host Lady Monarchs led for the majority of game-three before the Pioneers rallied to secure the match.
Elen O'Donnell led King's offensively with nine kills and 17 digs while
Mary Loughran followed with 29 assists, six digs, four kills and two service aces.
Emily Heimbecker registered seven kills, 12 digs, and two blocks assists while
Alexa Nelson also contributed seven kills.
Eboni Chase posted nine digs and two service aces while
Alyssa Powell also tallied nine digs. Sara Busse had 11 digs while
Kelsie Kramer chipped in with three block assists.
King's returns to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. tri-match at Albright College which also includes Gwynedd-Mercy College.
