King's Field Hockey Notches 12-1 Victory Over Cedar Crest

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- Seven different Lady Monarchs netted a goal paced by a hat-trick from senior Abby McManus en route to a 12-1 non-conference win over visiting Cedar Crest Thursday at McCarthy Stadium.

King's jumped out early getting a goal from Kim Howanitz just 2:43 into the first half. King's picked up four more goals with Alyssa Monaghan, Lindsey Paduck, McManus, and Meghan Lermond stretching the lead to 5-0.

Emily Rodenberger got the Falcons on the board with a with an unassisted tally at 34:16 to set the halftime score at 5-1.

In the second half King's found the back of the net six times in the first 12 minutes to push the lead out to 11-1. Amber Soden finished the game with a goal at 61:22 to set the final.

The Lady Monarchs dominated on the shot counter holding a 35-6 advantage while posting an 11-7 edge in penalty corners.

In addition to McManus three other King's players tallied multiple goals. Monaghan, Howanitz and Paduck each netted a pair of goals. Courtney Shaffer tallied a goal and two assists.

Megan Withrow scored the win in the cage for King's making one save and allowing one goal. Chelsea Blaney and Paige Tedik each made appearances in goal for the Lady Monarchs. Kaitlyn Brendinger took the loss making 11 saves.

The Lady Monarchs travel to Eastern to for their Freedom Conference opener at 11:30 a.m..
