King's Field Hockey Drops 5-4 Decision to Eastern
St. Davids, Pa. -- The King's College field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision to reigning Freedom Conference champion Eastern in the team's league opener.
The Eagles opened up an early lead scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. King's was able to trim the lead to 3-1 at the half on an unassisted tally from
Alyssa Monaghan.
Monaghan struck again at the 46:05 mark to pull the Lady Monarchs within one assisted by Alexandra Bolinsky. Eastern extended the lead to 4-2 with a goal from Megan Bolton at 49:01.
Meghan Lermond cut the lead to 4-3 with a goal at 60:25 and the Lady Monarchs pulled even on a
Kim Howanitz tally just two minutes later.
Bolton scored the game-winner for the Eagles at 65:05 assisted by Alexa Borrelli.
Megan Withrow took the loss in the cage for King's making eight saves. Kylie Jones made four stops to pick up the win for Eastern.
The Lady Monarchs are back in action on Saturday when they host Delaware Valley at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
