King's College Wrestlers Drop Tough Decision to SUNY Oneonta
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College wrestling team dropped a hard fought 23-18 decision to visiting SUNY-Oneonta Tuesday night in non-conference action at Scandlon Gymnasium.
Jamie Scarantino got the Monarchs on the board first at 125 pounds scoring a 4-3 decision with the bonus riding time point. King's gave a forfeit at 133 and Oneonta's Benjamin Mikac put the Dragons up 10-3 with a 12-1 major decision over Giacomo Dinicola.
King's battled back in the middle weights with Christian Mazzocchi scoring a tough 6-1 decision against Evan Wallace.
Gordon Custer brought the Monarchs to within one, 10-9, by tallying a 9-3 decision over Frankie Provenzano. Tommy DeSir remained unbeaten on the season with an 8-2 decision against Shaun Gillen to put King's up 12-10.
At 174 Daniel Graff gave Oneonta the lead back pinning
Angelo Lussi with 52 seconds left in the match.
Shane Stark answered the bell for the Monarchs at 184 notching a fall of his own against Anthony Marino at the matches 58 second mark.
The Dragons scored wins at 197 with Chad Obzud defeating
Cemah Tudae-Torboh 9-1 and Stephen Provenzano earned a 9-2 decision over
Elijah Gresham to set the final.
The Monarchs are back in action on Sunday when they play host to Lycoming at 2:00 p.m. at Scandlon Gymnasium.
