King's Volleyball Falls to FDU in Freedom Conference Matchup

KING'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS 3-0 FREEDOM CONFERENCE DECISION TO FDU-FLORHAM

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team was unable to capitalize on opportunities to win the first two games before dropping a 3-0 decision to FDU-Florham in an important Freedom Conference matchup Wednesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the loss King's slipped to 9-4 overell but are 0-3 in the Freedom Conference. FDU, meanwhile, improved to 14-12 and 1-2 in league competition.

King's led in the first game 24-22 but could not earn two set points and fell 26-24. In the second game King's trailed 20-19 but FDU scored four of the next five points to win 25-21. In game three King's fell behind early and lost 25-18.

Katelyn Shifflett led King's with 12 kills and four digs while Mary Loughran dished out 29 assists with nine digs. Sarah Busse tallied seven kills with 11 digs while Jessica Carr added six kills and four digs. Elen O'Donnell posted five kills and seven digs while Brenna Smudde and Alyssa Powell posted seven digs apiece.

FDU was paced by Melissa Gaffnet with 15 kills while Natalie Knudsen followed with 13 kills. Codi Inloes-Williams chipped in with 34 assists.

King's returns to action Saturday with the MAC Crossover Duals at Arcadia University in Glenside.
