King's Volleyball Splits Pair on 1st Day of Ithaca Tournament

KING'S VOLLEYBALL SPLITS AT ITHACA TOURNAMENT

ITHACA, NY -- The King's College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the first day of the Ithaca College Invitational Friday in Ithaca, NY.

In its first march King's defeated Utica College 3-1 by scores of 25-20, 11-25, 25-16, 25-18.  In its second match the Lady Monarchs fell to Carnegie-Mellon 3-0 by scores of 25-11, 25-12, 25-9.

With the split King's stands at 11-7 on the year. Carnegie Mellon is 15-4 while Utica is 8-12.

In the match against Utica, Katelyn Shifflett led King's offensively with 15 kills, five digs and two services aces. Emily Heimbecker followed with 12 kills, 13 digs, and two assists.  Mary Loughran dished out 38 assists with 19 digs and three kills. Elen O'Donnell contributed 16 digs while Brenna Smudde registered 14 digs. Jessica Carr posted six kills and five digs while Kelsie Kramer tallied six kills and two digs. Sarah Busse chipped in with four kills, four assists, and nine digs.

Against Carnegie-Mellon, Carr had four kills and two digs while Aubrey Gryskiewicz also posted four kills and five digs.  Busse distributed seven assists and five digs while Emma Hanrahan registered eight digs. Mackenzie Martin tallied three kills and five digs while.

King's returns to action Saturday with a 1:15 contest against Wells College, followed by a 3:30 meeting with host Ithaca.
