OCTOBER 12, 2014KING'S MEN'S TENNIS PLACES BRAND SECOND IN SINGLES, CORRIDONI AND CARL SECOND IN DOUBLES AT MAC TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPSCOMPLETE BRACKETSWILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's tennis team had one singles runner-up and also had one doubles team place second at the 2014 Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Championships concluding Sunday at Kirby Park.Placing second for King's was senior Stephen Brand in the number-two flight, while junior Rob Corridoni and freshman Nathan Carl combined to place second in the number-two doubles flight.The second-seeded Brand (9-2) won his semi-final match with a 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 victory over Dominic Parfianowicz of Wilkes. In the finals, he dropped a 6-2, 3-6, 10-1 verdict to top-seeded Michael Kranz of Wilkes. Brand outdid his 2013 tournament appearance where he fell in the semi-finals.In the number-two doubles flight, King's team of Corridoni and Carl won their first match Sunday morning over Phil Shuck and David Esch of Misericordia 8-2. They then won semi-final match with a 8-6 decision over top-seeded Mike Kranz and Bill Blachowski of Wilkes. In the finals they fell to second-seeded Max Appello and Tom Haas 8-1.King's other singles semi-finalist was second-seeded George Parkhurst who fell in the semi-finals Sunday morning to third-seeded eventual champion Max Appello of Wilkes by a 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 marginThe Monarchs will now be idle until making their Spring Break Trip to Florida.
