KING'S MEN'S SOCCER BLANKS WILKES 2-0

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College men's soccer team used two first half goals to defeat Wilkes University 2-0 on Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improves to 11-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the Freedom Conference while Wilkes falls to 4-12 overall and 2-2 in the Freedom Conference.

The Monarchs got their first goal just 10:48 into the game when Billy Brown headed in a corner kick from Chris Nygren. Brian Fenster then gave King's a 2-0 advantage when he struck a shot from 25 yards out that found the back of the net at 31:41.  The Monarchs defense did a great job in limiting the Colonels to six total shots.

The Monarchs outshot Wilkes 11-6 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. Tyler Wilson made three saves in goal for the Monarchs.

King's will next be in action on Wednesday when they travel to St. David, PA for an important Freedom Conference game against Eastern University at 3:15 p.m. The Eagles currently stand in first place in the Freedom Conference with a 4-0 conference record.
