KING'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO MANHATTANVILLE IN 3-2 MARATHON

PURCHASE, NY -- The host Manhattanville College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two sets to post a marathon 3-2 victory over visiting King's College Tuesday night in Purchase, NY. 

King's won the first and third sets by scores of 25-14 and 29-29. The Valiants won the third set 25-21 and rallied from a 23-22 deficit to win the fourth set 25-23. In the deciding fifth set Manhattanville won 15-11.

With the loss, King's slipped to 12-11 overall and 0-6 in the Freedom Conference. Manhattanville, meanwhile, improved to 13-13 and 3-3 in league competition.

Kaitlyn Shifflett led the Monarchs with 16 kills, six digs, and three blocks. Emily Heimbecker followed with 14 kills and 22 digs while Mary Loughran dished out a season-high 39 assists while adding five kills, five aces, and 17 digs.

Jessica Carr contributed seven kills and three digs while Brenna Smudde posted 23 digs. Alyssa Powell tallied  23 digs while Sarah Busse chipped in with 16 digs.Alexis Swager registered five kills while Kelsie Kramer finished with four kills.

King's will return to the court Friday and Saturday at the Cobelskill University Invitational Tournament in Cobelskill, NY
