King's Volleyball Takes Two Saturday to Win Cobelskill Invitational

KING'S VOLLEYBALL WINS COBELSKILL TOURNAMENT

COBELSKILL, NY -- The King's College women's volleyball team won both its matches Saturday to finish 3-0 and win the Cobelskill Invitational Tournament in Cobelskill, NY.

It marked the 13th consecutive season a Bernie Kachinko-coached King's women's team won at lest one tournament in a season. The Lady Monarchs stand at 15-11 after the event.


King's won its first match 3-1 over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts by scores of 25-9, 21-25, 25-15, 25-21. The Lady Monarchs then defeated Cobelskill 3-0 by scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-14.

Against MCLA, Katelyn Shifflett had 15 kills and two blocks while Mary Loughran added 16 assists and six digs. Emily Heimbecker added 14 digs and five kills while Jessica Carr contributed five kills and two blocks. Emily O'Donnell tallied three kills and 11 digs while Brenna Smudde registered 15 digs. Sarah Busse had 20 assists and seven digs while Alyssa Powell chipped in with four kills.

Against Cobelskill, Carr posted nine kills and three digs while Heimbecker followed with eight kills and eight digs. Shifflett posted six kills and six total blocks while Busse dished out 24 assists and three blocks. Smudde contributed 10 digs.

King's will next host Delaware Valley College Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gym.
