King's men's soccer team will have to wait until Friday to face Morrisville as snow forced tournament officials to push the game back a day

King’s NCAA Tourney Men’s Soccer Game Postponed to Friday Due to Snow

KING'S NCAA MEN'S SOCCER GAME WITH MORRISVILLE MOVED TO FRIDAY DUE TO SNOW. 

MORRISVILLE, NY --- The King's College men's soccer team will have to wait a day to open up NCAA Tournament play. Due to snow in Morrisville, NY, King's game against SUNY-Morrisville has been rescheduled for Friday at 12:00 noon.  

The field at Morrisville was completely covered with snow and rather than risk injury, tournament officials elected to push the game to Friday. Start time was 6:00 p.m. and officials officially called the game at 6:05 p.m.

Ticket prices for Friday will remain at $6 for adults, $4 dollars for students, and $2 for children 12 and under.

King's enters the game with a 15-5-1 record while Morrisville State is 16-2. The Monarchs are playing in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year after defeating Eastern University 2-1 in double overtime on Saturday for their second straight Freedom Conference Championship. King's has won four straight games and eight of their last nine contests. The Mustangs are making their second ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament after defeating Lancaster Bible 2-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship game on Sunday. Morrisville State has won their last 12 games. This is the first ever meeting between the two teams.

King's is outscoring their opponents 55-27 this season. The Monarchs have six players with 10+ points. Junior Chris Nygren leads the team with 27 points on eight goals and a team leading 11 assists. Senior Niall Croke, the 2014 Freedom Conference "Defensive Player of the Year", has 24 points on a team leading 11 goals and two assists. Junior Daniel Hernandez, the 2014 Freedom Conference Tournament MVP, has tallied 16 points on six goals and four assists.

Senior Korbin Keene has 13 points on six goals and one assist. Senior David Stroh has 11 points on four goals and three assists. Senior Billy Brown has 10 points on four goals and two assists.

The King's defense is led by senior Chris Conaty along with junior Tyler Harlan and sophomore Phillip Kistner. The Monarchs have held their opponents to just 4.76 shots on-goal per-game. In goal sophomore Tyler Wilson has a 1.26 goals against average with 70 saves and six shutouts.

The Mustangs are outscoring their opponents 62-11 and have not let up a goal in their past six regular season contests. The offense is led by sophomore Joe Sheehan with 36 points on 15 goals and six assists. Freshman Jamieson McKoy has 26 points on 11 goals and four assists. Freshman Julian Rodriguez has 24 points on nine goals and six assists.

Senior Gilroy Alvarez has tallied 12 points on five goals and two assists. Senior Jacob Chase and junior Danny Peckham each have 10 points on three goals and four assists. In goal junior Rob Larkin has a 0.54 goals against average with 45 saves and six shutouts.

The winner of the King's-Morrisville State game will advance to play top-ranked defending national champion Messiah College in Grantham, PA on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
