King's Women's Basketball Falls to DeSales

KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO DESALES, 68-51

WILKES-BARRE — The visiting DeSales University women's basketball team raced out to a 18-point halftime lead and never looked back as the Bulldogs posted s 68-51 victory over host King's College Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, DeSales improved to 15-4 overall and 5-3 in Freedom Conference games. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 5-14 and 1-7.

DeSales came out the gates quickly and built a 26-9 lead with 8:46 left in the first halfAfter the Lady Monarchs closed to within 27-12, the Bulldogs ended the half with a 10-7 spurt 37-19 lead at the break.

King's attempted to battle back in the second half and cut the lead to 10 points on two occasions, the last coming with 5:28 on the clock to bring the score to 54-44, but DeSales outscored the Lady Monarchs 14-7 the rest of the way to seal the victory.

The Ladsy Monarchs were led by Jennifer Fabian with 16 points and nine rebounds while Marissa Manning followed with 13 points nd five assists. Jessica McHugh netted nine points with four rebounds and three blocked shots while Kasey Seitz chipped in with five points, nine rebounds, and three assists.

For DeSales, Alexiah Grant posted 16 points while Sondrine Glovas followed with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Megah Gallagher chippe din with 10 points and 12 boards.

King's returns to action Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. Contest at Eastern University.
