KING'S BASEBALL SWEPT BY MISERICORDIA

DALLAS -- The King's College baseball team put forth a good effort against defending Freedom Conference champion Misericordia but dropped both ends of a doubleheader Thursday in Dallas.

King's lost the first game 2-0 before falling 3-1 in the nightcap.

In the opener the Cougars scored all the runs they would need with one in the first inning and another in the fourth.  The Monarchs managed just one hit in the game, a second inning single by freshman Tom Gibbons, against Cougar hurler Ryan Dorosh.

King's hurler Shawn Heck was the hard-luck loser, allowing two runs on six hits while going the distance.
In the nightcap, King's scored in the game's first at-bats when Tim Zaccone walked and later scored from third on an infield grounder by Anthony Lizzi.

The Cougars would score in the bottom of the frame to tie the score at 1-1.
Misericordia added a run in each of the third and fourth innings to seal the win.

King's had just three hits in the second game with Gibbons going 2-for-3 and Ryan Civello 1-for-3.  Ryan Gimbi was solid on the hill for King's, scattering eight hits in going the distance. Gimbi struck out seven batters and did not allow an extra base hit.

King's and Misericordia will conclude their three-game series Monday with a 3:30 p.m. matchup at King's Betzler Athletic Complex.
