KING'S BASEBALL FALLS TO MANHATTANVILLE

WILKES-BARRE -- The visiting Manhattanville College baseball team overcame an early 4-0 deficit by scoring 11 runs over a three-inning span as the Valiants posted a 12-5 victory over host King's College in a Freedom Conference matchup Tuesday at Lipo Field.

With the win Manhattanville improved to 17-12 overall and 11-7 in conference play while the Monarchs slipped to 7-16 and 5-13.

Ryan Civello led King's with a 3-for-4 effort with one run and one RBI. Joe Zito was 2-for-5 with a run and RBI. Tim Zaccone, Tom Gibbons, Stephen Brynock, and Justin Martinelli had one hit apiece in King's nine-hit attack.   The Monarchs left nine runners on base and missed out on run scoring opportunities in the sixth and seven innings. King's mustered just one run with the bases loaded in both innings.

Shawn Heck took the pitching loss for King's, lasting four and two-third innings and allowing eight runs, five that were earned, with four strikeouts.

Jordan Nunez led the Valiants by going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Kurt Hommen and Chris Conklin were also 2-for-4 for Manhattanville.

King's returns to the field Wednesday when the Monarchs host Baptist Bible College at 4:00 p.m.
