KING'S MEN'S TENNIS CLINCHES SECOND SEED FOR FREEDOM TOURNEY WITH 7-2 WIN OVER EASTERN

ST. DAVIDS -- The King's College men's tennis team clinched the second seed for next week's Freedom Conference Tournament as the Monarchs posted a 7-2 victory over host Eastern University Saturday in St. Davids.

With the win King's improved to 12-4 overall and 5-1 in Freedom Conference matches. Eastern fell to 7-9 and 1-5.


The Monarchs opened the match by sweeping the three doubles contests. Stephen Brand and Tony Bevevino teamed up for an 8-2 triumph in the number-one flight, as did Jake Rohring and Chris DiMino at second doubles. Ryan Hegarty was lso a 6-0-6-1 winner at fifth singles. King's team of Tyler Ryman and Ryan Hegarty made it a 3-0 match with a 8-3 victory.

In singles, Brand was a 6-1, 6-0 winner, Bevevino earned a 6-6, 6-1 triumph, while Rohring won 6-2, 6-1. DiMino captured the number-four single slot with a 6-3, 6-1 decision.

King's will next host third-seeded FDU-Florham Wednesday at 3:30 pm. in the Freedom Conference Tournament semi-finals at Kirby Park.
