KING'S MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO WILKES 5-1 IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE TITLE MATCH

EDWARDSVILLE -- Defending champion Wilkes University took a 2-1 lead after doubles, then won the first three completed singles bouts to post a 5-1 victory over cross-town rival King's College Saturday at the Ralston Courts.

With the win Wilkes improved to 18-1 while King's fell to 13-5. 

King's got its lone win in the number-one doubles flight as George Parkhurst and Tony Bevevino posted a 8-3 victory over Dominic and Jacob Parfianowicz.  King's number-two and three teams of Stephen Brand and Jake Rohring, along with Tyler Ryman and Chris DiMino both dropped 8-2 decisions.

In singles, Wilkes posted wins in the number-three, four, and six positions to clinch the match. The number-one, two, and five bouts went unfinished. King's Parkhurst led Steven Wilson 6-3, 4-1 at the time while Brand led Max Appello 6-1, 4-3 at the time the match was halted. DiMino and Adam Lefkandinos were tied 1-1 in sets when the match was stopped.
