KING'S VOLLEYBALL WINS HOME DEBUT WITH 3-0 TRIUMPH OVER BBCWILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team made its 2014 home debut a successful one as the Lady Monarchs posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Baptist Bible College Thursday night in Scandlon Gym.
King's, which won by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-21, improved to 5-1 on the year while the Defenders slipped to 2-8.
Freshman
Katelyn Shifflett posted a team-high 13 kills with two solo blocks and two services aces while sophomore
Jessica Carr followed with eight kills and one ace. Senior
Mary Loughran dished out 31 assists with five digs and three kills while fellow senior
Emily Heimbecker had eight digs with four kills.
Brenna Smudde contributed 15 digs while
Sarah Busse posted four digs and two kills.
Alyssa Powell and
Elen O'Donnell chipped in with four digs apiece.
King's will be idle until Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs host DeSales University at 7:00 p.m. In the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.
