KINGS FIELD HOCKEY FALLS IN OVERTIME TO SUSQUEHANNA

SELINSGROVE -- Cayla Spatz scored twice, including the game-winner just 3:24 into overtime to lead the host Susquehanna University field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over visiting King's College Saturday in Selinsgrove.

With the win Susquehanna improved to 3-3 while King's slipped to 4-2.


Susquehanna took a 1-0 lead when Spatz scored just 2:43 into the game.King's tied the score at the 32:57 mark on a goal from Meghan Lermond as the teams enter the half-time break deadlocked at 1-1.

In the second stanza Suaquehanna took a 2-1 lead when Katherine Millett scored off an assist from Tessa Woodring just 1:39 into the final frame. King's again fought back as Selina Malacari converted a pass from Alexandra Bolinski to tie the score at 2-2 with 12:33 left in the contest.

The score would remain the same through the rest of regulation until Spatz tallied the winning goal.   All three of Susquehanna goals came quickly at the start of each period, as every score was under the four minute mark.


Susquehanna outshot King's 27-13 and owned a 19-3 advantage in penalty corners. King's goalie Paige Tedik made 14 saves in the game.

King's returns to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. home matchup with Muhlenberg College.
