KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DEFEATS MORAVIAN 3-1

 
BETHLEHEM -- Alyssa Monaghan scored twice and Brianna DiMaggio added a pair of assists as the King's College field hockey team posted a 3-1 victory over host Moravian College Wednesday in Bethlehem.

With the win King's improved to 5-4 while Moravian slipped to 4-4.


King's got on the board at 23:58 when Selena Malacari scored off an assist from DiMaggio. The Monarchs took a 2-0 lead at the half when Monaghan struck net off a second assist from DiMaggio with 4:28 left in the opening stanza.

The score grew to 3-0 when Monaghan netted her second goal  just 2:10 into the second half. Moravian answered with a goal by Kelly O'Donnell just 2:27 late to trim the lead to 3-1.

King's outshot Moravian 15-12 while the Greyhounds held a 14-9 advantage in penalty corners. Monarch goalie Paige Tedik made four saves in the contest.
 
King's returns to action Friday night with a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Eastern University at McCarthy Stadium.  King's will play its Alumni Game Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
