JANUARY 17, 2015KING'S WRESTLERS GO 2-1 AT GETTYSBURG TRI-MEETGETTYSBURG -- The King's College wrestling team went 2-1 with one victory being decided by team tiebreaking criteria at a tri-meet Saturday at Gettysburg College.King's won its first match 57-0 against Southern Virginia. The Monarchs hen fell to host Gettysburg 26-18. In its final match the Monarchs finished in a 26-26 tie with Penn College of Technology but the Monarchs were awarded the victory based on NCAA dual meet tie-breaking criteria based on most points score in the match not decided by pins.
In its match with Penn College, the Monarchs trailed 26-11 with three matches to go. King's then rattled off a decision and two pins to tie the score and win the match by criteria.Ralph Bernardo led the way for King's at heavyweight, going 3-0 with a trio of pins. Ryan Longenberger was also 3-0, posting two pins and a decision. Matt Sparks went 3-0 for King's at 133, including a technical fall. Jake Daniel was 2-1 at 125-pounds; Ryan Carden was 2-1 at 165; while Zach Smith was also 2-1 at 184.Â
King's returns to the mats Saturday with the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at Wilkes University.
