King's Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Meet in The Big Apple

KING'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS TRI-MEET IN NEW YORK

NEW YORK, NY -- The King's College women's volleyball team made a successful trip to the Big Apple as the Lady Monarchs won both ends of a triangular meet Saturday at The City College of New York

In its first match with William Patterson, King's dropped the first set but rallied to win the match 14-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-23. In the second match against CCNY, King's won 25-12, 25-10, 25-17. In the process, King's improved to 17-6 on the  year.


In the opener, Rachel Miller led the way with 18 kills and 16 digs while Jill Korgeski followed with 14 kills and 17 digs. Katelyn Shifflett added 12 kills while Maddie Kumm dished out 40 assists with 23 digs.  Brenna Smudde posted a team-high 22 digs while Kristen Bohnenblusch and Elen O'Donnell chipped in with 14 and 11 digs respectively.

In the second match, Bohnenblusch had six kills and six digs while Alexis Swagler and Miller added six kills and four digs apiece. Aubrey Gryskiewicz posted five kills and five digs, while Kumm distributed 20 assists with six digs. O'Donnell and Emma Hanrahan chipped in with 10 digs each. Olivia Musto tallied two kills.

The win over CCNY was also head coach Bernie Kachinko's 450th career win at King's


King's plays again Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Freedom Conference matchup at Misericordia University.
