KING'S FIELD HOCKEY EARN 2-0 VICTORY OVER FDU-FLORHAMMADISON, N.J. --- The King's College field hockey team scored twice in the first half to defeat defending Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Champion FDU-Florham 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Robert Shields Field in Madison, N.J.
The Monarchs improve to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in MAC Freedom play with the win. FDU-Florham falls to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Kelsey Gabriele gave King's an early 1-0 lead when she redirected a
Caitlin Wood pass into the cage in the sixth minute. The Monarchs made it 2-0 in the 21
st minute when
Brianna DiMaggio grabbed a rebound off a shot from Wood and sent the ball to
Madysen Jones who scored her team-leading 12
th goal of the year.
The Devils were able to out shoot the Monarchs 15-8 and held a 17-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Paige Tedik had six saves in goal for the Monarchs while
Haley Waslasky and
Nicole Sott recorded defensive saves in the win. Amy Defnet made five saves in goal for the Devils.
Madysen Jones and
Kelsey Gabriele each scored a goal for the Monarchs while
Caitlin Wood and
Brianna DiMaggio had an assist each.
King's will next travel to Reading, PA to face Alvernia University on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
