KING'S FIELD HOCKEY HANDS CEDAR CREST 7-0 SETBACK

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College field hockey team scored early and often as the Monarchs posted a convincing 7-0 victory over visiting Cedar Crest College in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 10-4 while Cedar Crest slipped to 1-8.


King's opened the scoring with 24:59 remaining in the first half when Alyssa Monaghan scored off a feed from Madysen Jones. From there the scoring deluge would begin.

Caitlin Wood made it a 2-0 game with an unassisted tally at 22:46 before Kelsey Gabriele struck net off an assist by Wood just 1:37 later.  King's made it a 4-0 lead just 1:04 later when Brianna DiMaggio  knocked in a fed from Wood with 20:05 remaining in the first half. 


In the second half Gabriel netted he second goal just 0:42 into the frame before Monaghan added her second goal 3:34 later.  DiMaggio scored the final goal of the game with 19:24 left to set the final score.

Monaghan, Gabriele, and DiMaggio scored three goals each while Wood contributed one goal and two assists.

King's outshot Ceder Crest 25-5 and held a 15-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Monarchs also owned a 7-5 advantage in penalty corners.

King's travels to play 20th ranked Eastern Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. David.
