KING'S WOMEN'S SWIMMING DEFEAT ALBRIGHT FOR FIRST TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College women's swimming team defeated Albright College 106-93 for the first time in program history in a Middle Atlantic Conference tri-meet on Saturday afternoon at the Scandlon Pool in Wilkes-Barre. The Lady Monarchs also defeated Lebanon Valley College 113-80. The men's team was swept in the tri-meet dropping a 108-90 decision to Albright and a 102-94 decision to Lebanon Valley.

The women's team improves to 5-1 on the year and 2-0 against conference opponents with the sweep. The men's team falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 against MAC teams.

The Lady Monarchs got out to a strong start when the team of Brigid Wynn, Rachel Jonas, Lauren Pham, and Melina Good were victorious in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 2:00.69 to begin the meet.

Wynn had a good day for King's winning the 400 yard IM in 5:09.57 and coming in second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.37. Jonas was victorious in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.44 and finished third in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.24.

Katie Fitch finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:40.78 and second in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:42.35. Mikayla Miller won the 100 yard freestyle in 59.28, was second in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:11.15, and was the opening leg of King's 200 yard freestyle relay team that finished second. Hannah Oney, Nicole Mealey, and Good also competed on the relay team.

For the men, Nate Dubbs was a three-event winner in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:53.79, the 500 yard freestyle in 5:18.88, and then teaming with Josh Shoemaker, Bryce Groshardt, and Randill DeAsis to win the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:33.57. Shoemaker was second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.29 and the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.28. Groshardt won the 100 yard backstroke in 56.76 and came in second in the 400 yard IM in 4:33.49.

Both teams will be in action next weekend when King's hosts the Diamond City Invitational at the Wilkes-Barre CYC on Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd. On Saturday the first session will start at 9:00 a.m. and the second session will start at 5:00 p.m. Sunday's session will start at 10:00 a.m.
