King's Women's Hoops to Host Scranton in Battle of 4-0 Squads

KING'S WOMEN HOSTING SCRANTON MONDAY IN BATTLE OF 4-0 SQUADS

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's basketball team will host long-time rival University of Scranton in a battle of unbeaten squads Monday at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.

Both teams enter the matchup with identical 4-0 records but are also coming off Thanksgiving break. King's last played on November 21 when the Lady Monarchs won the Oneonta Invitational Tournament. The Lady Royals last saw the court November 24 when Scranton posted a 62-56 win over Cabrini.

The game will also mark the first meeting between King's 11th year head coach Brian Donoghue and first-year Scranton coach Trevor Woodruff, who took over the Lady Royals after coaching the men's squad at Misericordia University for 11 years.

King's has been paced by 5-10 junior forward Jennifer Fabian with 13.5 points and 9.3 rebounds while junior small-forward Kayla Feairheller follows with 13.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. Junior point-guard Kasey Seitz adds 7.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while senior forward Tara Zdancewicz comes off the bench to average 5.3 points and 3.7 boards. Sophomore 6-foot-2 center Olivia Hoffman chips in with 4.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and has a team-high 10 blocked shots. Junior guard Shae Grim has tallied 4.3 points per-game.

Junior 6-foot-1 power forward Alix Roman tops Scranton with 19.3 points and 6.5 rebounds while senior guard Noelle Alicea follows with 13.5 points and 5.8 boards. Freshman guard Bridgette Mann contributes 105 points and 4.3 rebounds while 6-foot junior forward Sarah Payonk chips in with 8.0 points and 8.0 rebounds.

After facing Scranton King's will open Freedom Conference play Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. matchup at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown.
