King's is looking to win a third straight Freedom Conference title but must face a difficult task in the first round against Manhattanville, a team which the Monarchs tied 1-1 in double-overtime back on October 10.

The Monarch enter the event with a 15-3-1 overall record while standing 5-1-1 in conference play.  Manhattanville, meanwhile, is 9-5-4 and 3-1-3 in league competition.

King's has been paced by Daniel Lorandini, a junior who transferred to King's from Manhattanville, who has a team-high 18 points on eight goals and two assists. Junior Brian Fenster follows with 15 points on six goals and three assists, while freshman Chris Galeano adds 10 points on four goals and two assists.  King's seniors Chris Nygren and Daniel Hernandez chip in with four points each on one goal and two assists.

Defensively, the Monarchs have allowed just 0.67 goals per-game and 3.7 shots on goal each contest.  Senior defender Kevin Hagmeier leads the unit, which also features senior Tyler Harlan and junior Philip Kistner. Monarch freshman goalie Owen Geedey owns a 0.66 goals against average with 54 saves.

For Manhattanville, Robin Schaufele leads the team with 18 points on seven goals and four assists while Oskar Maertinsson follows with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Steve Sinqson adds 11 points on five goals and one assist while Hugo Landberg contributes 11 points on three goals and four assists. The Valiants are also an outstanding defensive squad, allowing just 0.69 goals per-game and have posted five shutouts and have not allowed a goal over the past five games., which include three double-overtime ties and covers a span of 510 minutes.   In goal, Markus Schwartz has a 0.61 goals against average and has 79 saves.

In the other men's semi-finals, second-seeded FDU-Florham (9-7-1, 5-2 Freedom) will host third-seeded Eastern (14-2-2, 4-2-1 Freedom Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.  Eastern, which was undefeated, dropped its last two league games of the season to King's by a 1-0 count and FDU-Florham 3-2 on Saturday.

The semi-finals winners will then splay on Saturday at the site at the highest remaining seed at a time to be announced.  If King's wins on Wednesday, the Monarchs would host the championship game for the second time in program history on Saturday at a time to be announced.  King's hosted the 2013 title game as the third-seed after upsetting second-seeded Misericordia in the semi-finals, and fourth-seeded FDU stunned top-seeded Eastern.  The Monarchs defeated FDU-Florham 2-1 in the 2013 championship game.

The winner of the Freedom Conference Tournament earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Under the leadership of tenth-year coach Mark Bassett, the Monarchs are making their seventh post-season tournament appearance (six Freedom, one ECAC). The Monarchs were Freedom Conference runner-ups in Bassett's second year at King's in 2007. King's won the ECAC South Region Tournament in 2008. King's qualified for the NCAA national tournament in both 2013 and 2014.
