KILPATRICK PLACES 3RD, KING'S 11TH AT MONARCH INVITATIONALCOMPLETE BRACKETSWILKES-BARRE -- King's College sophomore
Howard Kilpatrick placed third at 157-pounds and was the top finisher for the red and gold at the season-opening Monarch Onvitational Tournament Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
Kikpatrick receoved a first-round bye, then pined Thomas Marrone of Oneonta State in his forst match. In the quarterfinals, Kilpatrick droppd a hard-fought 2-1 decision to eventual champion Logan Meistre of Ferrum. In wrestlebacks, Kilpatrick posted a 3-2 decision over James Palys of Wilkes, them defeated Monarch teammate
Keith Wanamaker 18-7 in the consolation quarterfinals. From there, Kilpatrick picked up a medical forfeit in the consolation semi-finals. In the consolation finals, he earned a 6-1 victory over Ian Evans of Scranton.

Matt Sparks went 2-2, posting a 7-0 decision over Brandon Caffrey of Gettysburg and 6-2 win over Anthony Milano of Ferrum.
141-pounds, King's freshmen Josh Nagel was 1-2 in the tourney. he posted pin in 4:14 of Jonathan Greenblatt of Muhenberg in the consolations. Sophomore
Kevin Kelly went 0-2.
149-pounds, freshmen Owen Watkins was 2-2. He won his first match by injury default, then posted a 17-4 decision over King's sophomore teammate
David White. Tony Immediato was 1-2, posting a pin in 0:16 of Ashton Gyenizs of Wilkes in the consolations. White and sophomore Keegan Williamson were both 0-2.
157-pounds, sophomore Howie Kilpatrick placed 3rd (results above). Senior
Keith Wanamaker was 3-2 in the event. He posted a pin of Warren Cain of Ferrum in his first match, the pinned James Palys of Wilkes in his next match. In the consolations, Wanamaker won a 15-10 decision over Thomas Marrone of Oneonta. Sophomore

174-pouds, sophomore Zach Smith finished 3-2 . He won his first match 11-2 over Josh Sneeringer of Waynesburg; downed Brendan Nunziata of Cortland 8-3; and bested Pete Hilburh of Roger Williams 3-1. Freshman Rene Sousa was 1-2, earning a 11-9 decision over John Anthony of York. Freshman Nick Price was 0-2.
184-pounds, freshmen Eddie Merrill, Tyler Mercandante, and Bill Burger were all 0-2.

Ralph Bernardo was 3-2, posting a pin in 6:32 of Alex Millen of Roger Williams; a 3-2 decision over Greg Kumer of Waynesburg; and a 6-1 decision over Jacob Evans of Waynesburg.
King's returns to the mats on Saturday by hosting the New York City vs. Pennsylvania Duals at 12:00 noon.
